Our law and our kinship connect us to our Country and everything in it. This knowledge is passed down to us by our old people. When we play our part in ceremony, when we walk in our country, name our places, remember the song cycles, burn, hunt and harvest using our seasonal knowledge, when we respect and guard our sacred sites, we are caring for and managing our country Yolŋu way as djäkami wäŋawu – carers for Country.
We invite you to learn more about our story, our elder’s visions and our new directions for managing our Indigenous Protected Areas by djäkami wäŋawu, based firmly on Yolŋu law.
